Let yourself be carried away to the deep south of jazz. An unforgettable evening at the Music Film Festival!
Experience an evening full of inspiration, rhythm and raw emotion in jazzclub Paradox in Tilburg. A unique combination of film and live music. First, let yourself be touched by the compelling documentary LITTLE SATCHMO about the extramarital affair of jazz legend Louis Armstrong. Then get in the mood with the rousing music of Michael Varekamp. This trumpet player and singer plays and sings like Louis Armstrong! With his rough voice and soulful playing, he brings you into the atmosphere of a sultry nightclub in Louisiana.
He is supported by the absolute top of the Dutch jazz scene: Rolf Delfos (alto sax), Wiboud Burkens (Hammond), Harry Emmery (bass) and Erik Kooger (drums). Together they bring an energetic tribute to the man who put jazz on the map worldwide.
The film ‘Little Satchmo’ is the poignant story of Sharon Preston-Folta, Armstrong’s illegitimate daughter. A film about the dark side of fame in the conservative 50s and 60s.
