Jakob Bro Solo – concert

Danisch jazz guitarist

Fri 1 September - 21:00 - Music Stage Paradox

Concert by the Danish jazz guitarist Jakob Bro, following the film screening of 'Music for Black Pigeons'.

Jakob Bro (1978) is a Danish guitarist and composer living in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a former member of Paul Motian & The Electric Bebop Band and of Tomasz Stanko’s Dark Eyes Quintet.

He has worked with international jazz greats such as Palle Mikkelborg, Joe Lovano, Midori Takada, Mark Turner, Nils Petter Molvær, as well as Dutch musicians such as Jesse van Ruller and Jeroen van Vliet. In the spring of 2021, he released the critically acclaimed trio album Uma Elmo through ECM Records. In November 2022, Jakob Bro and saxophonist Joe Lovano teamed up to lead a deeply felt tribute to the late, great drummer-composer Paul Motian on “Once Around the Room.”

Danish filmmakers Jørgen Leth and Andreas Koefoed followed Bro during recording sessions in New York. The film clearly shows how well Bro manages to gather top musicians around him and to take the musical performance that little bit further.

Jakob Bro will give a solo concert during the Music Film Festival in Tilburg on Friday 1 September.
