Concert: Het Zesde Metaal

Flemish dialect pop group

Sun 8 September 2024 - 19:00 - Pop stage 013 - 90 min - € 21,30

Het Zesde Metaal, the Flemish dialect pop group led by Wannes Cappelle, has become an indispensable part of the Belgian music world. The concert in 013 Poppodium is preceded by an interview with Wannes Cappelle by Jan Douwe Kroeske, combined with various film fragments.

With classics such as ‘Ploegsteert’, ‘Naar De Wuppe’ and ‘Tid Van Ton’, and richly celebrated albums such as ‘Nie Voe Kinders’ and ‘Calais’, the band has built up a strong reputation for being lyrically strong and poetic, but just as tight and inventive instrumentally. At the beginning of 2024, the now renowned album ‘The Longest Year’ was released, which was created during the heaviest period in the band’s history.

In mid-2022, the news of the incurable illness of guitarist and keyboardist Tom Pintens hit like a bomb, and it inspired the band to make an album in the intimacy of their own circle. With producer in the role, Pintens led the band into the studio in the summer of 2023 to give it their all one last time. He died a month after the recordings.

This year, a show and interview combined with various film fragments will take place in a 013. The interview with Wannes Cappelle is done by Jan Douwe Kroeske (2 Meter Sessies).
