Dinosaur Jr. was formed in 1984 in Amherst, Massachusetts and at its peak consisted of band members J Mascis, Murph and Lou Barlow. The group is considered one of the founders of later grunge music (Nirvana, Mudhoney etc.). Their music is characterized by Mascis’ drawling vocals and pronounced guitar sound, with a lot of feedback and distortion.
