The Music Film Festival proudly presents the Dutch premiere of the documentary Billy Joel: So It Goes. This compelling film sheds a surprising and personal light on the life and career of one of the greatest songwriters in pop history.
From his early breakthrough with “Piano Man” to global classics like “Just the Way You Are,” “Uptown Girl,” and “Always a Woman.” Billy Joel became a voice for generations. But behind his public success lies a complex and unique life.
In this documentary, director Susan Lacy, along with Billy Joel himself, tells a story as it has rarely been told before. Candid, reflective, and with a deep feeling for both the music and the person.
They use never-before-seen footage, Joel’s own home videos, and interviews with his bandmates, ex-wives, and daughter. This creates a deeply personal portrait of an artist, true to his art.
